There are some great Phuket Town restaurants. Located next door to Salvatore’s is a cute little restaurant called Anna’s Cafe. The restaurant looks quaint – almost English – but the food is Thai through and through.

Forgo other restaurants nearby and make the effort to visit Anna’s Cafe in Phuket Town. The food is outstanding. This type of restaurant is best enjoyed with a group of friends, each of whom orders one dish to share.

Phuket Town restaurants don’t come much better than this. We particularly recommend the massaman and geng som — two delicious curries that will have your tastebuds tingling.

After you’ve had your fill of Thai food, you can check out the dessert menu. Anna’s also has a range of fruit smoothies that are pretty good. Although you pay a little bit more for your food than you would from a street vendor, the extra cost is definitely worth it and still a lot cheaper than feasting out at Western restaurants.

  1. After 2 weeks of backpacking through thailand and eating off street vendors, our group of five thought it should treat itself with an upperclass restaurant visit, so we went to Anna’s.
The restaurant itself das a very pretty interior, the service was good enough.
When it was time to order most of us wanted european-style food and dessert.

That night four of us spent the night on the toilet either vomiting and/or with diarrhea and 3 of us the next day sick in bed.
One of our group is a physician by trade and diagnosed us with food poisoning.

So, Anna’s may be a nice restaurant but don’t go there if you have any plans for the following day.

  2. That sounds horrible. It is possible to get food poisoning from anywhere, though. We’ve had it from a 5-star resort in Phuket. One thing you will find is that most cases of food poisoning occur after eating euro-style food in Thai-run restaurants. It’s happened to us with various pasta dishes.

We’ve never had any problems with the Thai food in Anna’s, though.
