Finding the right Phuket beach on the island of Phuket

The island of Phuket is a magical place. It has some of the best scenery and landscape in Thailand. It’s also an incredibly popular place to visit, so when it comes to picking which Phuket beach to see, you have to take a lot into consideration.

The most obvious Phuket beach to consider is Patong Beach. Everyone knows about it and everyone who visits the island of Phuket ends up there at some point. It just kind of sucks people in with its shiny nightlife and millions of restaurants and market stalls. But in terms of the actual beach, you might want to look elsewhere.

One Phuket beach that is also very popular, but a lot prettier than Patong, is Kata. It’s certainly one of coolest spots to visit on the island of Phuket. There’s also some decent surf down there, so if you want to catch a few waves, this is the place to head.

But Kata is popular and as such it is still on of the busiest spots on the island of Phuket. Perhaps a better choice of Phuket beach would be somewhere like Surin Beach, which is a fun little spot that is often overlooked by travellers.

If you want to know where the hippest Phuket beach is, we’d have to say Laem Singh. There aren’t many places on the island of Phuket where the island’s trendy folk get together to hang out and party. The best time to visit is on Sundays during high season when there’s a beach party. It’s a lot of fun.

For a Phuket beach that’s a little more secluded, try Yanui Beach. It’s one of the island of Phuket’s best-kept secrets, especially during low season when you only have the fishermen for company. It’s not an ideal spot for swimming or anything like that, but for just enjoying the scenery and good company, it’s a winner.

The island of Phuket has a few surprises up its sleeve. Head north and there’s a great Phuket beach called Nai Yang. This is where the island’s kite-surfers do their thing. It’s usually very peaceful and a great place to hang out.

Even farther north you come to what we think is the island of Phuket’s best beach: Mai Khao. It’s just so huge and long and deserted that you can’t help but find your own little perfect spot.

We don’t want to push you to visit a particular Phuket beach, so if you have the time, why not see them all?
