Shopping in Karon Thailand

Karon Thailand is not only known for its amazing white sandy beaches. Many tourists prefer to stay in Karon for its hotels and resorts, restaurants and shops. This is because shopping here is a lot more relaxed and less crowded compared to shopping in Patong. 1. Karon Circle

If you plan to shop in Karon Thailand, it would be good to start at the beach circle. As you walk up the main road going towards the Buddhist Temple, you would discover the long stretch of photo developing centers, tailors, pharmacies, banks and bars.

In the evening, as you walk up to Karon Circle and enjoy the sculptures of the workers that commemorate the agricultural and tin-mining history of Phuket, you would also be able to do some shopping. You can buy different types of shoes, sunglasses, designer watch replicas, suitcases, bags and a wide range of souvenirs, knick-knacks and novelty items from silk cushion covers to toys to wooden handicraft items and a lot more.

A couple of hundred meters south, getting closer to Kata on the Beach Road, you would be able to find the Karon Bazaar, which is a regular shoppers’ paradise. In there, you would be able to find and shop for anything you can imagine. You can practice your bargaining and haggling skills as most of the items are being sold by neighboring stalls.

Some of the items that you can find here would include CDs, DVDs, computer games, silk bed covers and tablecloths, sunglasses, sandals, Crocs, hats, fake designer bags and shoes, swimming attire, shirts, dresses, water sports gear such as snorkeling sets, belts, local handicrafts, souvenirs and all kinds of novelty items. It closes late so you can also just eat dinner there, since there are plenty of dining options there as well.

3. Aroona Karon

The Aroona Karon is the perfect place to go to in Karon Thailand if you are looking to buy a lot of local handicrafts and souvenirs. It houses plenty of handicraft shops, cafes and restaurants. It is also a great place to go if you just want to eat while appreciating the Sino-Portuguese architectural style of the building, which is mainly the Old Phuket Resort.

4. The Hilton Phuket Arcadia Souvenir Shops

The Hilton Phuket Arcadia houses a number of souvenir shops which offer items of better quality compared to those which are sold on sidewalks. Some of the souvenirs which can be bought here would include silk scarves and Persian or Indian rugs. Most of the items that are being sold are made in Thailand or from other countries in Southeast Asia. Because they are of better quality and are more unique, prices are a bit higher.
