Located on the beach road (the south end), Coyote Mexican restaurant is the Phuket equivalent of the restaurant of the same name in Bangkok. Just like the one in Bangkok, Coyote serves up some mean Mexican food — possibly the best in Phuket — and the portions are notoriously generous.

Though it is perhaps a little pricey considering the food you’re presented with (about 400 baht a dish), the food is really good and there are shots and margaritas if you’re out drinking. The outdoor area is cool, but you might find the musical entertainment from next door a little overbearing. Tourists seem to love it, however, and tend to leave the indoor area empty.

As it’s firmly on the tourist trail, there are usually large groups of tourists eating and drinking boisterously, even during low season. Coyote isn’t a romantic spot; it’s a place to eat Mexican food and get drunk. If you fancy a quiet bite to eat you probably shouldn’t be eating out in Patong.
